Or statespersonship if I’m being politically incorrect.
Kidding aside, I’m glad Gov. Garcia no longer reacts to the barbs of Mayor Tommy Osmeña. At least she appears trying not to.
In a live feed from Texas beamed to the crowd during the Sinulog parade, Osmeña had to mention that the Sinulog Foundation didn’t need the P2 million donated by Gov. Garcia in behalf of the provincial government. Did he have to mention it? Is he picking a fight again with the governor?
In his condition, cancer of the urinary bladder, Osmeña is knocking on heaven’s door, so to speak, even if he assured Cebuanos he is getting better and will be back soon. Shouldn’t he be making peace with God by making peace with his neighbors?
In contrast, Gov. Garcia said when interviewed after the Sinulog that the organizers did well in putting up a good show despite the crisis.
She furthered said, "The crisis has had an impact on almost everything, that is why we offered to help. The Province of Cebu will always be here to extend support and help where it is needed, because Sinulog is for the entire Cebu. There is no more distinction here whether it’s Cebu City or the Province."
The governor also promised, "They (organizers) can always count on my support."
I hope she’ll always be like this. I hope Mayor Osmeña will start to be like this. So the bickering stops. So the embarrassment stops.
So they both become the leaders we can look up to and follow.
